Eating with the seasons is a smart choice for your health and for the environment. It also gives you the opportunity to enjoy new flavors and dishes you may not try otherwise. Homewood, a new restaurant in Dallas, is embracing seasonal foods and creating delicious dishes that will expand and satisfy your palate.
Homewood aims to offer great hospitality alongside simple and approachable foods. Every dish is its own work of art, from the sourcing of the ingredients to the beautiful plating presentation. The restaurant is the creation of three die-hard foodies. Matt McCallister, who has trained in some of the nation's best kitchens, is the executive chef. Michael Barnett, a UT graduate with a passion for hospitality, is a general partner, and Maggie Huff, a Dallas native who has worked in New York City, is the pastry chef.
The menu at Homewood changes seasonally based on what is available locally. If you visit in the summer, you'll get to try starters like the Parker House Rolls, made with a Parmesan mornay sauce and chicken drippings, and the Spanish mackerel, made with smoked corn aioli and serrano peppers. The chilled tomato gazpacho soup is a delicious way to embrace the flavors of a summer garden. For your entree, you can't go wrong with the smoked pork belly and glazed carrots. The harissa vinaigrette served on top provides the perfect splash of acidity.
A meal at Homewood is not complete if you don't try one of the desserts, all of which are made in-house by the resident pastry chef. The dark chocolate popcorn torte offers the perfect combination of sweet and savory flavors.
Homewood is open from 5 - 10 pm Tuesday - Sunday. The restaurant has a slightly upscale atmosphere without feeling pretentious, so business casual attire would be appropriate. Reservations are recommended on weekends.
Visit Homewood soon, and contact us if you're looking for a new place to call home in Dallas.
