Mountain biking is a fun way to enjoy some fresh air while at the same time increasing your muscle tone and improving your heart health. There are some exciting mountain bike trails near Dallas. When you're ready to go for a ride, the best spots near our Uptown Dallas apartments include:
LB Houston is perfect for beginners who aren't ready for technical rides. Several dips add a challenge, and a few railroad crossings are found along the way. Towering trees provide plenty of shade, and this six-mile trail takes about an hour to complete.
At 17.1 miles, the [White Rock Creek Trail] is the longest trail in North Texas. Nearly ten miles encompass the lake, and the north end meanders through the path's most beautiful scenery. Along the way, riders may spot an array of bird species, including great egrets. These majestic creatures feature white feathers, S-curved necks, and yellow-orange dagger-like bills.
Nestled on the south side of Lake Grapevine, the Horseshoe Mountain Bike Trail welcomes beginning and intermediate riders alike. The path runs counter-clockwise, and cyclists discover challenging creek crossings, rocky climbs, and a few drop-offs. They also find loose gravel, rock gardens, and over 100 directional signs.
Called one of the most unique trails in the Metroplex, the Tribute Shoreline Nature Trail starts by passing the Old American Golf Club practice facilities. Once riders are past the green, they suddenly feel as though they're in a national park. The scenery changes with the seasons and interpretive signage offers fun learning opportunities along the way.
